Waterclean engaged with Kaitaia WWTP in an effort to reduce the algae count.
During long dry summer months the microsistin count downstream of the Kaitaia WWTP discharge due to high algae levels means that water takes from the stream for livestock is not possible.
Benefits
The FTM option of algae control even during high concentration times in late summer has proved a success. The downstream microsistin counts have not elevated to the level whereby livestock drinking water has been an issue.
