The design of the Floating Treatment Wetland was to span the width of the forebay during treatment flow rate yet rise potential 4-5 metres during peak flooding events.

Anchoring designs and the shape of the Floating Treatment Wetland were of large importance due to the powerful forces of flooding events and then realigning when the waters subside.

Plant species selection had to be in harmony with the embankment plantings for aesthetic purposes and also the plant roots had to withstand low level grazing from grass carp that are in this system.
